Scholarships

2018/2019  RAPID RIVER SCHOOLS LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS will be available to seniors April 5, 2019.  Scholarship information will be explained to seniors by Mr. Warning. Additional questions may be answered by the high school office.

** Deadline to return the forms is April 23, 2019 (3:00pm)!!!

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER!

  • May 20, 7:30 pm – Senior Awards program in elementary gym.

  • May 25, 7:00 pm – Graduation in high school gym.


When completing scholarship applications:

  1. IMPORTANT!  Be sure to read ALL criteria and instructions.   If you have any questions please check with the office.

  2. Don’t forget to write your name on each application.

  3. Do not use staples, use paper clips instead. 

  4. We  encourage you to use a computer or a typewriter to complete these applications, but if unable to, please write neatly in ink, do not use pencil.   However, the Rapid River Foundation Scholarship will only accept typed applications.

  5. Do not mark on back, turn in single sided pages only.  Use additional pages if necessary.

  6. You must ask for a copy of your transcript from the office for each application, do not assume that the office will do it for you.

 

RAPID RIVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:

The scholarship committee will consist of the following:

  • Superintendent
  • High School Principal
  • School Board Member
  • Teacher

Criteria for making application for a scholarship:

  • Must have been a full time student at the Rapid River Public School for the entire year.

  • Submit an application to the committee (Principal’s office) in April of your senior year.

  • Enclose a transcript of grades with your application.  The student is responsible for getting their transcript from the office.  This is to be returned to the Principal’s office with your application.

  • Must be accepted at an accredited college, university, technical school, or school of advance learning.

  • Must carry the full time equivalency of advanced study per semester to be eligible.

  • Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholarship, financial need, character and potential of completion.

  • The amount of each scholarship will be determined by the committee unless specified by the donor.

  • Should an applicant decide to change schools or curriculum after receipt of scholarship, the committee shall reconvene to determine scholarship status.

  • The scholarships for which a student is applying must be indicated on the application form if more than one scholarship is on the form.

  • Students applying for these scholarships must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above, unless the specific award states otherwise.


2019 RAPID RIVER LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • American Legion Post #301 Scholarship
  • See application form for criteria.
  • First Bank Scholarship

  • This scholarship requires a 2.50 GPA.
  • Perry Peterson Scholarship

    • First preference given to students who display exceptional academic ability and are enrolled in a college preparatory curriculum, including four years of Math (which includes trigonometry), four years of Science (which includes Biology and Chemistry), together with courses in History and Literature.

  • Rapid River Education Association Scholarship

    • See application form for criteria.

  • Rapid River Four Township Sr. Citizens Scholarship

    • See application form for criteria.

  • Rapid River Lions Club Scholarship

    • Must be a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a Lion member.

  • Rapid River Memorial Day Scholarship

    • See application form for criteria.

  • Rapid River Relic Riders

    • Scholarship available to two graduating females and two graduating males who are definitely planning on going to Bay de Noc Community College or any other vocational school and has financial need.

  • Rapid River Student Council

    • See application form for criteria.

  • Roy M. Shane Memorial Scholarship

    • This scholarship requires a minimum 2.50 GPA.

  • Stonington Booster Club Scholarship

    • A family member must be a resident of Bay de Noc township or an active member of the Stonington Booster Club.

 

2019 COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF DELTA COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • Albert & Ellen Peterson Memorial Scholarship

    • Scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA.   Student must exhibit a desire and the potential to succeed, be very reliable and exhibit good citizenship.   Scholarship is renewable for up to three (3) additional years providing the student provides proof of enrollment and maintains at least a 2.50 GPA.

  • Bill & Elsie Siitar Scholarship

  • Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Financial need a factor.
  • Clarence and Jeanette Martin Memorial Scholarship

    • Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  First preference given to a student pursuing a career in either forestry, veterinary medicine or DNR conservation officer.

  • Coach Jerry Collins Memorial Scholarship

    • Graduating senior who has been a member of the boys or girls basketball team.  Hardworking team player, has a passion for working with young people.

  • Floyd T. Roberts Memorial Scholarship

    • This scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • Gail Hardwick Memorial Scholarship

    • This scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • Holly Joy Scholarship

    • Student must be planning on obtaining a degree in the medical field.

  • John S. Miller Memorial Scholarship

    • Scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA.   Solid “C” student, attending trade school, journeyman, wanting to better themselves.

  • Marvin Mosier Nursing Scholarship

    • Must have a 2.50 GPA.  Must be accepted into a nursing program at the college of his or her choice.

  • Rapid River Schools Foundation Scholarship

  • Ruth E. Viau Memorial Scholarship

    • This scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Sally Constantino Memorial Scholarship
    • This scholarship requires registration as an Indian Education Student, please see Lollie Eskofski for details.
